our journey
History of Axis
Axis originated solely as a school band back in June of 2025 where we were originally a four piece band mainly focusing on playing in the areas of the indie genre. Over time after multiple performances and such within the school grounds we as a band began to grow apart from the school and become a serious, independent band.
Our first gig outside of school was at an open mic night down at the Steamworks where we had our first full experience of playing a half an hour setlist in front of a decently sized crowd of approximately 40 people, of which all those who gave us feedback upon our act described how well we had done and how much they had enjoyed our performance. This excellent feedback and experience further motivated us as a group to strive to achieve a bigger role in the Sheffield music scene in the future.
Over the span of a few more months and three gigs, we were given the opportunity to have our very first headliner on the second stage of The Network music venue in April of 2026 under DRL promotions! With a capacity of over 200, we had achieved a final sale of 116 people on our own showing to us how big of a scale we had grown in such a short time of playing together as a band.
Recently during the month of August, our band grew from a 4 piece to a 5 piece band when we held trials and welcomed our new and current bassist Loki who with short very short notice learnt and played a set with us upon a stage in the Corporation supporting a well known band from New York called NOTNORTH.
What we aim to achieve
In the future, we would like to gain a larger following through organised gigs and performances as we continue to grow across the Sheffield music scene.
Furthermore, we as a band would like to make many connections with all different artists, producers, mixers, venues, organisers and anyone else across the UK who works in the musical industry so that we can efficiency aid in each others' growth across the scene whilst also supporting many other causes that require us to do so.
About Us
Brendan - vocals
My passion for music began in September 2024 when i decided to pick up bass guitar, however later on in 2025 i also decided to begin learning skills vocally. My favourite genre of music to perform and listen too is Alternative rock and Pop Punk. I decided to co-found Axis after joining the prior school band since I want to become a successful musician alongside my awesome bandmates!
Will - Drummer / backing vocals
Music has played a role in my life since I was born however my journey for drumming began 7 years ago in year 6 and have been playing ever since and for the past year I have began to pick up doing backing vocals for Axis. My favourite genres to play are stoner rock and metal whilst my favourites to listen to in general are alt rock and nu-metal. I decided to co-found Axis after founding the prior school band and wanting the opportunity to play on a stage like my father before me.
Loki - Bass Guitar
I've been learning to play the bass guitar since late 2024 just under 2 years ago. My favourite music is Alternative Rock and Metal however, I love to play a mix of all genres. I trialed for Axis in August of 2026 and was selected to be the new bassist. I applied to join Axis because I wanted to experience playing on stage in front of a crowd with a band.
Alex - Lead Guitar
I started to play guitar in mid 2023. My favourite genre to play and to listen to is Alternative Rock and Grunge. I started my journey with Axis since i wanted the experiences of playing on stage and writing my own original music. I want to be a role model in the music industry and inspire other people to pick up a guitar and learn how to play.
Alys - Rhythm Guitar
I’ve been playing since 2023. My favourite music is a bit of everything, mainly alternative, rock and nu metal. My favourite stuff to play is alternative and nu metal. I want to gain experience from playing in axis and I also want to inspire people and make good music. I joined the band because you guys needed a guitarist and I’ve always wanted to be in a band so I took the opportunity. Though I never expected it to turn into what we have now.
